Blessed 2012.
This song is timeless. The lyrics speak clearly about the world we are living in. Even after almost 10 years since the song was released, we are still constantly questioning ‘where is the love’. Sad it may seem, but the fact is we are too bounded by our busy lives, often we tend to focus about ourselves and neglected about the society as whole, the world we are living in. As busy we...

Good Bye 2010
And yet again, another year has come to an end. Good times, bad times; happy times, sad times, it all vanishes into the sea of memories. 2010 passed in a glimpse of an eye. For all i know, I spent the first half of the year working hard at Costa. Had a photoshoot for Alina and Natalia, Anya and Mert right before the summer, and went to the States for my brother’s graduation. 2nd year started...

Lastolite Lumen8 F400
Finally, my long awaited Lastolite Lumen8 arrived yesterday. I was so excited that I actually woke early just to wait for the delivery man to come. The kit comes with 2 400w/s flash heads, 2 brollies, 2 air cushioned light stands and 2 carry bag. I bought the kit with a radio trigger but unfortunately i have not received it yet, apparently the trigger was out of stock and i have to wait for...

Inspire: photographers meet up
Had an awesome time in London on Friday meeting up with bunch of interesting people-photographers. I was really inspired by their works, some of their photos really blew me away. Hopefully we’ll get in touch and perhaps having another meet up sometime soon.

Birmingham
Went to Birmingham for 2 days. Here’s the photos. A pint of beer first thing in the morning, what a way to kick start the day. Night view of the Bullring. A contrast of modern and the olden architecture.

Updates
Here’s some updates on what i’ve been up to lately. Went for the Exeter’s Got Talent first round on Tuesday, 16th March. To explain briefly, this is a event is sort of a talent show and the winner gets to perform in this year’s Beach Break Live 2010. The first performance was quite good, especially the bass solo at the end. However the following performances were really...

Business school film and photo competition...
Exeter business school has recently introduced a film and photography competition to celebrate the international diversity of the business school. The results were announced yesterday in conjunction with the launching of the exhibition at the business school. There’s about 25 participants and all their photos were very beautiful. My friend, Okky from Indonesia managed to grab a winning place...

Panography experiment
This is my first attempt on panography. Just so you know, Panography is a photographic technique to compose one picture from several overlapping photos. I used 25 photos on this panography. Honestly, it is a pain in the ass! It’s like putting a puzzle together and it takes forever to fix one. However it is quite interesting. I will try a panography with more photos next time. If you like...

A sign that winter is over
As I was walking today, I realised something different, people sitting on the grass chatting in the park, colourful flowers blooming and dogs running around. Then, I realise its the 1st of March, perhaps, thats a sign of spring and a sign that winter has passed. Hope that the weather gets better soon. Can someone suggest what should i do during the one month easter holiday?!

Lasagne
Lasagne is probably one of my favourite italian food. For people who does not know what is Lasagne, here’s a definition from wikipedia: “Lasagne is both a form of pasta in sheets (sometimes rippled, though seldom so in Northern Italy) and also a dish, sometimes named lasagne al forno (meaning “oven-cooked lasagne”) made with alternate layers of pasta, cheese, and often...

Aperture 3
Apple has finally released its new powerful photo editing and management software, the Aperture 3. Unlike iPhoto, which is also another amazing photo management software by Apple, the Aperture 3 is more powerful and has more features to makes photo editing more simple and also helps photographers to manage their massive photo libraries. I am able to download a 30-days trial version to test out...

Lunch
Went for the Student’s Guild’s general meeting in the afternoon. It was my first time attending the general meeting and not surprisingly im the only Asian there. The meeting lasted for about an hour and a half i suppose. I was so hungry by then and went for lunch at Ritazza. Trust me, they serve the best pasta in Exeter or mayb even the UK, especially my favourite Prosunghi. Met few of...

Experiments
Its a friday night and i’m left with no plans or whatsoever, thus i decided to do some experiments using slow shutter speed and lightings. The victim today is..my guitar, Fender CD-60CE acoustic guitar. I used a table lamp and a Canon 380EX speedlite that I borrowed from the photosoc as the lightings. Here’s the result of the experiments. The last two photos are my favourite...

Darkroom
This is my first time ever stepping into a darkroom, was thinking of just getting the flashgun from David at first, but decided to stay on for the darkroom session. Since I have been shooting digital all this while, thus this is my first time developing films. I have to admit, it was really interesting. Shooting film is so much different from shooting digital, at least the post processing process....

Canon EF 50mm F1.8 II
This is a review of the Canon 50mm F1.8 mk2 Lens. The EF 50mm f1.8 II is a simplified version of the original EF 50mm F1.8 of 1987. This is probably Canon’s cheapest lenses available, however, the image quality of the lens is superb. This fast lens is used as a standard lens on a full frame dslr or a 35mm film camera. However, on a APS-C format dslr, it acts as a short telephoto lens at...

"Im a photographer, not a terrorist"
“Photography is under attack. Across the country it that seems anyone with a camera is being targeted as a potential terrorist, whether amateur or professional, whether landscape, architectural or street photographer. Not only is it corrosive of press freedom but creation of the collective visual history of our country is extinguished by anti-terrorist legislation designed to protect the...
